How to calculate your exact age
This calculator compares calendar dates rather than dividing a day count by 365. It adds complete years and months from your birth date, then counts the remaining calendar days, so month ends, leap years and February 29 are handled as dates on a calendar.
How days lived are calculated
Natural days are counted at a UTC calendar-day boundary. That avoids daylight-saving changes turning one calendar day into 23 or 25 hours. The hours figure is only an approximation: it multiplies complete calendar days by 24.
How the next birthday countdown works
The next occurrence of your birth month and day is selected from the calculation date forward. If you were born on February 29, choose whether a non-leap year celebration is February 28 or March 1. On the birthday itself, the calculator shows “Happy Birthday!”.
How leap-year birthdays are handled
In leap years, February 29 remains February 29. In other years, the selected February 28 or March 1 rule is used for the birthday countdown. Your age itself still uses calendar differences and does not depend on a 365-day shortcut.
Why age should not be calculated by dividing days by 365
A year can have 365 or 366 days, and months are not all the same length. A simple division gives an approximation that can be off around birthdays and month ends. Calendar arithmetic gives the requested years, months and days.
