How to convert multiple images
Add more files at any time. BrightTools uses a controlled queue so a large batch does not run every high-resolution encode at once. A failed or unsupported file is reported separately and never stops the other files.
JPG vs PNG vs WebP vs AVIF
JPG is widely compatible and works well for photographs, but it cannot store transparency. PNG is lossless and keeps transparent pixels. WebP supports transparency and often makes smaller web assets. AVIF can be smaller still, although decoding and encoding depend on the browser.
How transparency is handled
PNG, WebP and AVIF preserve the alpha channel. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are composited onto the selected color; white is the default and black is never used implicitly.
Are images uploaded?
No. Files are read as local browser objects and are decoded, encoded and zipped on this device. BrightTools does not send filenames, pixels, blobs, Base64 or EXIF data to analytics or third parties.
Why can converted images become larger?
A different codec can be less efficient for a particular image, especially when a high quality setting is selected. The tool reports a larger result as “larger” and never calls it a saving.
Browser support and format limitations
JPG, PNG and WebP use standard Canvas codecs in current desktop and mobile browsers. AVIF output is shown only when the browser exposes an AVIF encoder. HEIC is decoded only when a local browser codec is available; no HEIC upload fallback is used. Animated GIF and SVG are not accepted in this first version.

Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and encoded in your browser. Files, names, pixels and EXIF data never leave your device.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Drop or select several images and use Convert All. Each file is handled independently.
Which image format should I choose?
JPG is broadly compatible, PNG keeps lossless detail and transparency, WebP is a practical smaller web format, and AVIF can be smaller when supported.
Does JPG support transparency?
No. Transparent pixels are composited onto the selected background, which defaults to white.
Can I convert HEIC photos to JPG?
Only when your browser can decode HEIC locally. Browsers without a HEIC codec show an unsupported message instead of uploading the file.
Why is the converted file larger?
Different codecs and quality settings can produce different sizes. The tool reports increases accurately.
Can I download all files as a ZIP?
Yes. The ZIP is generated locally and includes only successful conversions.
